We create a random device-linked customer identifier so you can rent as a guest without creating an account. We store rental history, station use, payment references, device/session security data and any name, email, mobile number or marketing preference you choose to provide.

You can create an account to recover your rentals, receipts and usage summaries on another device. You may log in with an email and password or a supported Apple, Google or Facebook account. If you sign in after using a new device as a guest, we use a short-lived one-time claim to join that device history to your customer record.

If you choose Use location, the app reads your approximate foreground location to calculate nearby hubs on your device. We do not send it to Out Of Charge, store location history or track you in the background. Search and QR scanning work without location access.

Stripe processes card, Apple Pay and Google Pay information. Out Of Charge receives payment identifiers, status and amounts but never stores your full card number.

We use data to provide and charge for rentals, calculate your personal rental summaries, return deposits, prevent fraud, handle support, maintain stations, meet legal duties and—with separate consent—send offers or network news.

We share only what is needed with payment, authentication, infrastructure and charging-hardware providers. If you choose social login, that provider confirms your identity and shares account details under its own terms. Rental and financial records are retained for legal, safety and accounting requirements; optional contact and marketing details are removed when consent is withdrawn or data deletion is requested.

Marketing, location, social login and saved cross-device history are optional. You can update your details or use Delete my data in Account. This removes your identity, contact details, consent and Stripe customer profile; records we must retain are anonymised. You can also contact Out Of Charge through outofcharge.com.
